Stephany Arzaga graduated Golden Gate University School of Law in May 2016 with experience in many fields of social justice work. Born and raised in the border town of El Paso, Texas, she discovered my passion for immigrant rights and justice at a young age. As Associate Legal Director at Legal Services for Children (LSC), Stephany directly manages, supervises, and evaluates LSC’s immigration staff attorneys, paralegals, and DOJ accredited representatives, leading LSC’s Immigration Project and Detained Immigrant Children’s Project, and carrying a case load of immigration cases. Stephany has extensive experience representing and advocating for immigrant children and transitional aged youth, who are currently detained as well as formerly detained immigrant youth and immigrant youth in the community, in a child-centered and trauma-informed way. As a direct legal services provider for approximately seven years, she has represented undocumented immigrants, primarily unaccompanied minor children, in various aspects of their legal case before several different venues, both affirmatively and defensively. Her entire law school and legal career, she has focused on advocating and supporting immigrant rights and immigrants’ justice.
